When we first started looking for a simple way to manage contacts, invoices, and basic compliance inside WordPress, we ran into a wall. Not because the tools didn’t exist — quite the opposite. The problem was that so many of them carried hidden costs: hidden data collection, baffling business logic, and a general feeling that we were the product, not the customer.
We kept hearing the same stories from fellow freelancers, agencies, and small business owners:
A plugin that silently sends the admin email address to a remote server the moment you activate it.
A vendor form that requires a personal email and full name — even when the vendor is a company like “DigitalOcean” or “Adobe Stock.”
A payment selection dropdown that shows “John” and “Jane” instead of the company name, making it impossible to pick the right supplier.
GDPR requests handled as an afterthought, if at all, with no real audit trail.
And so, instead of waiting for someone else to fix these things, we built Rayzee ERP — a WordPress ERP plugin that starts with security and real-world logic as its foundation, not as optional add-ons.
The core idea is simple: your business data should belong to you. That means no hidden outbound connections, no telemetry, no “phone home” features. Everything runs locally inside your WordPress installation. Our code is open, auditable, and follows strict WordPress security guidelines — nonce verification, capability checks, and prepared SQL statements on every query.
But philosophy alone isn’t enough. The plugin also had to fix the small, everyday frustrations that eat up your time.
Contacts that actually make sense
In Rayzee ERP, a contact can be an individual or a company. The email field is optional — because in the real world, you often pay a hosting bill or a software subscription without a specific person’s email. When you view a list, companies show their business name; individuals show their full name. When you choose a payee in an invoice, you see the name you’d expect to see. It sounds small, but anyone who has scrolled through a dropdown full of “None, None, @none.com” knows how much it matters.
Invoicing that gets out of your way
Creating an invoice takes three simple steps: pick a customer from your address book, add one or more line items (description, quantity, unit price, and optional tax rate), and let the plugin calculate subtotal, tax, and total automatically. Invoice numbers are generated in a clean, sequential format like INV-2025-0001, and you can track each invoice through its lifecycle — Draft, Sent, Paid, Overdue, or Cancelled. A straightforward filter bar lets you see exactly the status you need, and the search box works across customer names and invoice numbers alike.
GDPR compliance at the core — not an afterthought
From day one, we baked in a GDPR toolkit. A detailed audit log records every important action (who viewed or modified a contact, when an invoice was created, when data was exported). The plugin integrates directly with WordPress’s built-in Personal Data Export and Erasure tools, so handling a client’s request is a matter of a few clicks. There’s even a privacy-policy shortcode you can drop into any page, and a front-end client portal ([rayzee_client_portal]) where logged-in users can see their own records and submit data-access requests themselves.
Modular and lightweight
Rayzee ERP doesn’t force you to install a massive monolith. The free core includes the CRM and invoicing modules, plus the compliance toolkit. Other modules — expenses, PDF generation, deeper WooCommerce integration, HR, inventory — will be released over time as part of our premium subscription, but you only enable what you actually use. This keeps your site fast and your admin area clean.
Rayzee ERP is for the independent freelancer who wants to send a polished invoice without signing up for a bloated SaaS. It’s for the privacy-conscious agency that handles European clients and needs a solid audit trail. It’s for the small business that has outgrown spreadsheets but doesn’t want to wrestle with an overly complex enterprise tool.
We’re actively developing new features, including recurring invoices, expense management, and deeper WooCommerce sync for product and order bridging. Early supporters who subscribe to our Pro plan get early access to these modules, direct input on the roadmap, and priority support. But the core CRM + invoicing + compliance package will always remain free — because we believe that a secure foundation shouldn’t be a luxury.
